Matt Donovan As Rebekah made her way leisurely down the cobblestone sidewalk, her heeled boots landing purposefully on the ground as they created a pleasantly familiar sound, she wore a soft smile. She was finally able to leave the ridiculously large family mansion...or palace...or whatever Klaus liked to call it. All day, she'd been cooped up in there with nothing to do. It was like that a lot, but it never failed to be utterly boring. She always did enjoy when it was time to get out of there, though. Perhaps more than if she didn't have any duties at all, and could walk out at any time. No, restrictions were definitely more...exciting. And, if you actually followed them...if...well, there was more reward in the end because you were able to feel as if you earned whatever it was.
And this was one of those nights when she definitely earned her free time. Her pace slowed as her eyes drifted over the sight in front of her. The white lights of the bar never failed to brighten up the night sky, almost as if she were looking at star that fell to the Earth, but still lit up for everyone to see. The Jaded Blue, she thought to herself. It was a cozy little place...comfortable, and calming. The food wasn't too bad, either, and the drinks...bloody perfection. Though, the company...was even more satisfying than the meals and ambiance combined. It really brought it all together. After all...isn't the bartender honestly what makes a bar what it is? And this bartender in particular...well, she would be surprised to find anyone who didn't enjoy his company. He just had this...simple charm to him. Almost like a puppy. How could anyone be turned off by that?
Bringing a confident smile to her lips, she brought a hand up to volumize her hair, and fix any strands out of place while she was at it, before sauntering up to the door and taking a step inside.
It was another one of those slow nights. I mean, sure, sometimes those were the best kind, if you had the right kinda person to talk to, but tonight, unfortunately, that wasn't really the case. Some of the people seemed interesting, but they were the ones who weren't sitting at the bar, and he really couldn't get away with not manning his post. Nah, at the bar, there was this couple--they seemed nice enough, but a little intimate to strike up any conversation with. And, besides...really? Couldn't they go somewhere a little more private with that kinda intense lip-locking?
Anyway, aside from them, there was just the usual guy, Simon, who came in a lot to try and get drunk, and, inevitably there always had to come a point where Matt would have to cut him off, and then there was this big commotion over that. He seemed pretty out of it tonight, anyway, so there was barely any talking going on there. A few people had come and gone, he'd been able to chat up with them for a little while, and they seemed cool enough, but...yeah, they'd headed out, and, like he'd said...it'd been pretty slow tonight.
Just as he decided to kill sometime by wiping down the bar top again, Matt paused a minute in his cleaning when he glanced toward the door. Heh...well, look who was here? If it wasn't the Original sister herself, looking all dolled up. A smile spread across his face at the sight of her, and, with a slight shake of his head, he finished the task then returned the towel back to his apron. Leaning forward a little and letting his weight rest on his palms, which were spread out on the bar, he offered her a friendly greeting.
"Rebekah!" he titled his head over a little as he observed her. "It's been a little while since I've seen you in here."

She fought the urge to burst into a grin right away at the words which drifted to her ears, turning to face the man calling out to her. Ah...what a lovely sight, the Original thought to herself as her head tilted slightly to the side, eyes briefly taking in the view. "Yes, well, when your brother takes over a town, you don't necessarily get the best hours," she walked slowly towards the bar before adding with a soft smile, "Matt."
The vampire stopped in front of the man leaning over the counter, looking down at her. Might as well try my luck, here, I suppose. With a smile, she lifted her head to look up at him directly. "But, as you can see," she spread her arms out, signaling to herself, "I did come back. Shouldn't I at least get a hug?"
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
Matt released a short laugh at that, before answering, "Eh...I guess you've earned it."
He leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her, giving her a gentle pat on the back. It was weird, but, even knowing she was a some 10-century year-old vampire, sometimes she just seemed like such a normal girl. Wanting her freedom, wanting some company, wanting a hug. It was neat to see that, even someone as ancient as her, who probably had more right to be out of touch with her humanity than anyone, was still so bound by these human needs and desires. It actually gave him a lot of hope for his friends.
Releasing her and leaning back against the counter, he told her, "Sucks about your control-freak brother, though. You ever think about just sneaking out sometimes?"

After he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a small embrace, she immediately reciprocated, placing her head on his shoulder an arms loosely around his waist. Not that it lasted long, much to her disappointment, but she wore a small smile nonetheless. It quickly turned into a smirk, however, at his words. "Well, what makes you think I haven't?" she asked, before leaning slightly closer to him, "Hmm...?"
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
"Oh yeah?" Matt asked then, an impressed look coming over his expression. It was kinda weird, though, the way Klaus almost played the role of a parent here. With a teasing smirk to match the Original's, then, he chided, "What's the matter? He always catch you?"

Rebekah's eyes rolled as he hit the nail on the head. That was exactly what happened. She never understood how he did it. In fact, all of her brothers seemed to have a knack for being right there, waiting, whenever she opened the door. "Yes, well...down-side to having a protective older brother or two? They never leave you alone. So, as fate would have it, whenever I've snuck out, they just so happened to be looking for me at the same time, which helps them to notice that I'm no longer in the vicinity."
She sighed as she sunk down into a seat at the bar, her arms moving to rest on this counter as she looked up at him. "I didn't come here to talk about them, though," the vampire said to him before she tilted her head slightly, an eyebrow raising in question. "Are you going to take my order or not?"
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
Matt listened quietly to her explanation, divulging the troubles with her brothers, and he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her. That did sound like it could get pretty suffocating, everyone always getting on your back like that. The closest thing he could even really compare it to was the way Caroline would always get onto everyone, start harping on them and being all in their business, but...to have as many people on him as she did? That must really suck. Especially since they were all her older siblings, too. That automatically carried an extra weight of authority with it.
Then again...I mean, though that was a downside to having over-protective family members, he imagined it must also be kinda nice, having that many people who cared about her, cared enough to actually be involved, get on her case, and annoy the hell out of her. It was a whole lot more than he could say he ever got from his own family, least of all his mom. There had been Vik, kinda, but...she definitely had never really been an authority figure in his eyes. If anything, he always felt like he was the one looking out for her.
When she opted to change the subject, however, he put a smile back on, not at all opposed to the shift, and he couldn't help but laugh at her demanding comment.
"Yeah, guess I oughta, huh?" he remarked, before leaning back and crossing his arms in front of him. "Alright, then, Miss Mikaelson, what'll it be this evening?" Giving a slight tilt of his head toward the board behind him, he added, "We've got a few specials up there, if you're interested."

She looked at him a moment longer after he finished before her eyes drifted up to the board above him. Her eyes narrowed as she looked over her options, head tilting ever so slightly more to the side. "What's so special about them?" she inquired, eyes flitting back to look at the bartender.
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
"Honestly?" Matt glanced over his shoulder, to take in the writing on the board a brief second, before releasing an easy laugh. "It's just special prices for the night," he told her, looking back to the blonde vampire with a shrug. He doubted that would really be a huge factor for her. "Although, some of it's a 'limited time only' kinda deal."

Ah...that laugh. She closed her eyes for a brief moment as she let the sound fill her ears, her smile softening slightly. It was just so...perfect. She quickly opened them again when his eyes landed back on her, though. Ooh...'limited time'? Now, that certainly was special, wasn't it? " Why didn't you say so in the first place?" She looked again at the board above him, before asking in a decisive voice, "Alright. What are my 'limited time only' options?"
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
"Well, those would be the summer drinks up there," Matt explained, smiling at the excitement he saw come over those bright, blue eyes of hers at the prospect. "Seein' as we've only got a few weeks left of it, they're fixing to go out pretty soon. Let's see...," he glanced back at the board once more, before stating, "that'd be...the Berry Mojito, Midori Margarita, the Lazy Day Colada, and...Tropical Ecstasy."

An eyebrow raised at that last one. "Tropical Ecstasy...?" she voiced in a slow voice as she stared at the human across the bar, the corner of her lip curling into small smirk. "Well...doesn't that sound fun? What is the trusty bartender's opinion?"

When his eyes landed back on her, she couldn't help just gazing at him for a moment. She didn't really want to look away at all, he was so...beautiful. And, the fact that those eyes were looking only at her...she felt so happy with that fact. But, alas...the moment always ends, doesn't it? "Alright. Get me that one," she finally said, tearing her gaze from his before setting her purse down on top of the bar.
"I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live."
Niklaus Mikaelson: Heheh. That is quite the title you've concocted for her ;1 But, you're right, and we are all certainly glad you do it, puting this effort into for us. At least it's productive in some way. You could find yourself wasted also. Then where would we be?
